CHILLY WILLY POSTPONED UNTIL 4th February
- by Catherine Fairlamb
Due to the poor weather which (depending on which forecast you read) is due to be cold and wet on Sunday, we have decided to postpone the Chilly Willy Shoot. For those who don't know, our Chilly Willy is a fairly new competition which raises money for charity which was started last year, shot outside on a Sunday in the depths of winter followed by eating chilli whilst we wait for the scores (hence the Chilly). Willy is the name of the shoot mascot. The format is a double frost bite, so 30 yards. Between the rounds there are hot drinks available to warm up.
The shoot is a handicapped one, so there is a junior winner and a senior winner overall, plus junior and senior winners per round, so everyone has an equal chance to win.The entry fee is £10, of which £5 goes to charity and the remaining £5 goes to cover the club's costs. This year the committee has nominated the Macmillan Cancer charity to be the charity. The shoot is open to all, just please email Catherine if you wish to enter (cafairlamb@gmail.com with CHILLY WILLY in the subject box) so we know roughly how much food to provide. There will be a vegetarian and a meat chilli available, plus tea, coffee, hot chocolate available through out the day.
Here is the boring safety bit: This is an outdoor shoot, in winter so please make sure you wrap up warm, in sensible footwear as the field can be slippery at this time of year and we don't want to have any injuries. Also please make sure you have waterproofs on the day, just in case. It may also be advisable to have slippers to wear in the pavilion as the carpets have just been cleaned and they are asking we remove shoes before going in.Please bring payment on the day (either cash or cheque).
